United Family Hospitals and the China Breast Cancer Foundation
Join to Promote Beast Cancer Prevention
BEIJING, Sept. 10, 2009--United Family Hospitals (UFH) initiated the United PINK Campaign in September with the China Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) to help raise awareness and provide public health education about breast cancer prevention. UFH hospitals in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou are all involved in the effort, each holding their own Pink Project in order to help get out the campaign’s message through the three Ps: “Promote, Prevent, and Present”.
“Promote” allows people to nominate deserving individuals to have mammograms at a UFH hospital, and provides opportunities to take part in charitable fundraising activities. In the capital, Beijing United Family Hospital’s PINK Project aims to provide 100 underserved women with free breast cancer screenings. In September, 25 women will be given the chance to receive a mammogram via online nominations, as part of the project’s “Promote” initiative.
“Prevent” means UFH will help educate women on how to prevent cancer through mammograms and women’s health seminars that teach self-screening techniques. Furthermore, women who receive a mammogram at Beijing United Family Hospital during the month of October can give someone less fortunate a chance to receive a free mammogram. “Present” means that people wishing to join the United PINK Campaign can also purchase gifts of screening certificates for loved ones, and give donations.
